Dear Members and partners
The beginning of a New Year is a good time to briefly look back on 2014 and more importantly to look forward to 2015.
Let me start with giving thanks to all the members of the Board that have contributed throughout the year to ATEB: Karen Van den Driessche, Patrick Holemans, Alain Vande Reyde, Daniel Mirgaux, Olivier Brissaud, Luc Vlaminck, Stephane Denis, Tim van Raemdonck and Philippe Kneipe. A special thanks also to Luc Vande Reyde, our webmaster and Christine Lucarelli, the Assistant to the Board.
Our gratitude also goes to all the members, partners and sponsors that helped us organize the 2014 program.
ATEB has closed the year with 160 members and healthy financials. We have organized during 2014 eleven events, covering a wide range of topics such as EMIR, Financing, Risk Management in China, Excel training for Treasury Professionals and a very successful Treasurer’s Day at SWIFT with 170 registrations. We also continued our tradition of supporting a charity organization and assisted in 2014 the startup of Hospibooks, a private initiative establishing storyteller services for hospitalised children.
What does 2015 hold in store for us? Unfortunately, a number of long serving Board Members have decided to retire from the ATEB Board and dedicate their attention and time to other passions. Their departure is creating a gap, but fortunately a numbers of members have already stepped up to the challenge and have confirmed their interest in supporting ATEB as a Member of the Board. Their candidatures will be presented for approval during the Annual General Meeting on February 3rd. But obviously if you, as a member, have some time, ideas and energy to dedicate to ATEB, don’t hesitate to advise me of your interest in becoming a board member.
Also, Christine Lucarelli, after more than 10 years has decided to pursue other interests. We were fortunate to engage Annick De Raeve to replace her.
The combined group has started developing our 2015 program of which you will find a brief preview below. For further details please consult the New Events section on our website.
One of our main goals remains to strengthen what has always been one of the main “raisons d’être” of the Association: sharing experience and knowledge amongst our members.
Going back to the roots of ATEB we will organize a number of events where corporate treasurers will present their treasury function and share their organization, challenges, and successes with our members in a confidential environment, the Treasury Showcase. The first one is scheduled on February 24th and will feature the treasury organizations of a number of French multinationals.
In March we will be hosting in Brussels the bi-annual board meeting of the European Association of Corporate Treasurers, which continues to be the voice of the European corporate treasury community towards the European Union.
In April we will jointly with Finance Square, a recently created platform for bringing together the various financial functions that are part of the CFO/Finance team, organize an event around treasury performance measurement and KPIs.
And you might already block your calendar for this year’s Treasury Day that is scheduled on October 22nd.
